Celebrity engagement rings

These days news of celebrity engagements seems to surface on a near daily basis, often accompanied by pictures of the bride to be's ring finger adorned with a huge rock.

While vintage chic is on trend at the moment for celebrities most seem to adopt a 'bigger is better' principle when it comes to engagement rings.

But rather than pick the ubiquitous gigantic diamond engagement ring some celebs are bucking the trend and opting for vintage gold jewellery as a more elegant engagement ring.

So we thought we'd take a look at two celebrities to have recently opted for a vintage or antique symbol of their love for their other half.

Jessica Biel & Justin Timberlake

The former N-Sync singer proposed to actress Jessica Biel in December 2011 and opted to do so with a hugely expensive and newly made ring, but one with a vintage look.

The ring, designed by Leor Yerushalmi, featured a 6-carat diamond on blackened platinum and cost a staggering $130,000.

Scarlett Johansson & Romain Dauriac

Actress Scarlett Johansson was given a vintage ring made by an unknown designer when she got engaged to French journalist Romain Dauriac in August 2013.

The ring features three round diamonds on a vintage art deco setting.
